News from Belgium is that Arsenal have finally made some serious enquires about Standard Liege’s 20 year old attacking midfielder Axel Witsel

Arsenal have been linked with the youngster for some time as have Everton and occasionally Spurs but it now appears that only Arsenal have made any serious moves to get the player.

It is said that he would cost as much as 15 Million and that is near the top end of what Arsenal usually would pay but nonetheless still within their budget criteria.

Witsel has been very influential at Standard Liege and is good with both feet able to play left wing or right wing and if required through the centre.

He is also young enough to fit in with Wenger’s youth policy, a policy that in fact has won them nothing for a few years now.
