Wenger questions Chelsea sportsmanship

In all fairness to Arsene Wenger his press conference after the Chelsea defeat was without any real controversy but that did not stop him taking a dig at Chelsea’s tactics.
He did say that Chelsea defended very well and that they are very experienced at the back but then he explained what he meant by experience [...]

English football derided in Europe over Man Utd extra minutes

A quick glance through European newspaper websites and a common theme is developing over the outrageously poor decision by the referee in yesterdays Manchester derby to give Man Utd so much extra time to score a winner.
In Spain they are asking what would the English say if the refs treated Real Madrid in such a [...]

Norway lifted by Holland commitment to beat Scotland

Norway who need to beat Macedonia and hope the Scots lose to Holland to grab second spot will be please by some of the statements coming out of the Dutch camp.
The Dutch have qualified and one could be forgiven for thinking that the Dutch would approach the game against the Scots with less than 100% [...]

Consolidation is the key to Chelsea’s future

The days when Chelsea were mass spending look to be over and the key word now at Stamford Bridge is consolidation and not non stop buying.
Chelsea had a plan that in all fairness they have instigated to perfection, they knew they had to spend big in the beginning and that there would be a high [...]

What a come down for Man Utd this week has been, months after boasting of being the best team in the world, they can no longer be considered a certainty for a top four spot.

Newcastle have a great opportunity for a world class manager

We state straight off that this is not breaking news and that there are no indications that what we are about to suggest will happen, it is more an issue to debate and consider.

The verbal jousting between the managers of the English Premiership teams has started to pick up in intensity in recent days and the latest broadside comes from none other than Sir Alex Ferguson.

Premier League Bad Boy set for two months out of action

Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton is set to miss the next two months of the Premier League season with knee ligament damage. Barton picked up the injury during his side’s 2-2 draw at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon after a challenge by Latics Lee Cattermole.

The 26-year old only recently returned to the Newcastle fold after a suspension handed to him by the FA for his involvement in a training ground bust-up with former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo. Barton said: “I am not blaming Lee in any way. It was a 50-50 ball and we both went for it, these things happen … It’s disappointing and frustrating. My sole intention is to knuckle down and bounce back and get fit again.”

Magpies interim-manager Joe Kinnear will now have to do without one of his best midfield players until at least next year which will no doubt come as a big blow. This really couldn’t of come at a worse time for Joey. He has just come back into the team and in fairness he looked as though he was settling in well but unfortunately for him he picks up this injury. Ah well, maybe he deserves it for being such a scum bag.

Spurs playmaker the man to answer Chelsea’s injury problems?

Chelsea could make a surprise January move for Tottenham attacking midfielder Giovani Dos Santos. The Mexican international has struggled to nail down a first team place at White Hart Lane since joining the club from La Liga giants Barcelona and a January move has been speculated in recent days.

Chelsea boss Luis Felipe Scolari is looking to add to his squad following injuries to key players such as Michael Essien and Joe Cole once the transfer window opens. Dos Santos, 19, has only made six appearances in the league for the North London club and a January exit looks a possibility now with Chelsea ready to offer the player an exit route from Spurs.

Dos Santos last played for Spurs under former manager Juande Ramos and has recently been sidelined with an injury. It has been a real shame not to of seen more of the promising youngster in the first third of the season. Dos Santos came to England with a massive reputation and in fairness to him he had a decent pre-season but unfortunately for him and indeed Spurs fans he hasn’t been able to show his undoubted ability in the league.

The Mexican playmaker costs just £4.5 million in this season’s “You the Manager” and in my view is definitely worth a look. So follow the link below to enter your team to be in with a chance of winning some terrific weekly and monthly prizes.
