Barca become the latest club to be linked with £32 million Premier League striker

Barcelona have become the latest club to be linked with Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez. The Argentine striker is expected to leave the Premier League Champions at the end of the season with United reluctant to cough up the £32 million needed to make his move to Old Trafford permanent.

Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal have all been linked with moves for the former Boca Juniors man, however Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is now ready to enter the race. Tevez, 24, is currently on a two-year loan deal at United which is set to expire at the end of this season.

I personally would be surprised to see Tevez still at Old Trafford next season. There is no doubting his ability, however I don’t think Sir Alex Ferguson is too keen to spend such a large amount on a player who sits on the bench most weekends. Tevez himself admitted he would be interested in a move to Real Madrid so I think Barca will find it difficult to bring him to the Camp Nou.

Tevez costs just £7 million in this season’s “You the Manager” and in my view, is well worth a look. So follow the link below to enter your team to be in with a chance of winning some cracking prizes.

Man City to make £24 million move for La Liga midfielder, Arsenal also interested

Manchester City are ready to make a £24 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure. The Ivorian international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with Arsenal also said to be interested, however City boss Mark Hughes is looking to steal a march on Arsene Wenger.

The 25-year old has always maintained his desire to stay at Barca following the interest from England. With both City and Arsenal currently in the market for a new central midfield player, Toure is seen as a possible candidate to arrive at either the Emirates or the City of Manchester stadium this month.

It is understood that City are ready to offer Toure a massive £100,000 a week contract (double the amount he is on at the moment) in a bid to prize him away from the Camp Nou. Barca boss Pep Guardiola is desperate to hold onto the midfielder, however with City ready to offer big big money to sign him, Toure may yet be on his way to Eastlands.

I have always been a massive fan of Toure’s and I would be thrilled to see him arrive at City. He is without doubt one of the best holding midfielders in Europe and I feel he would add an awful lot to a under-performing City side. It will be intriguing to see how this one pans out over the coming weeks. Make sure to stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest transfer news.

Arsenal line up £6 million move for Barca midfielder

Arsenal are lining up a potential £6 million January bid for Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure. The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a winter exit from the Camp Nou for some time now after falling out of favour with Barca manager Pep Guardiola.

Arsene Wenger is keen to bring a new central midfield player to the club after seeing both Alexander Hleb and Matthieu Flamini leave the Emirates during the summer. Since been told he has money to spend for the upcoming transfer window, Wenger has been linked with several big name players and Toure is the latest to be linked.

The 25-year old has spent just a year-and-a-half at Barca and, in truth, hasn’t had the best of times. He has made 39 appearances in total for the Catalan giants, scoring just three times in the process. Yaya, is of course the brother of Gunners defender Kolo and it has been speculated on more than one occasion that the pair would link up at either Arsenal or Barca.

What a good signing this would be for Arsenal. I have always rated Toure very highly and I think if Arsenal were to sign him for £6 million it would be a real bargain. I feel Fabergas and Toure would make an excellent partnership in the heart of the Gunners midfield should the move happen. With January fast approaching, make sure you stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest news.

Man United prepare £20 million bid for La Liga star, would be a quality signing

Manchester United are ready to make a £20 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Xavi after it was confirmed that Owen Hargreaves will be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has set his sights on a new central midfield player to replace Hargreaves and Xavi is now understood to be his number one target.

The Spanish international is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world and Ferguson is ready to offer him the chance to move to Old Trafford. The 28-year old has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League with Chelsea said to be interested.

Xavi has been with the La Liga giants for over 16 years, progressing through the youth ranks to become one of the clubs most prized assets. He has made 430 appearances for the first team, scoring 43 goals in the process. Barca boss Pep Guardiola is keen to hold onto Xavi, however he may be tempted to accept the £20 million on offer for the player.

Although I would love to see Xavi come to the Premier League, I just can’t see it. He is an exceptional talent who would no doubt make United a better team but he is Barca through and through and I fully expect him to stay at the Camp Nou. With both Scholes and Giggs likely to retire in the next year or so, I think it is vital Ferguson adds another midfielder to the ranks and although Xavi would be a great addition, I feel he must look elsewhere
